What is it
What is llms.txt?
llms.txt is a proposed standard for helping large language models understand your website. Placed at the root of your domain at yourdomain.com/llms.txt, it's a plain Markdown file that describes your site: what you do, what's on it, and which pages matter most.
The standard was proposed by Jeremy Howard of Answer.AI. The idea is simple: robots.txt tells crawlers what not to read. llms.txt tells AI models what to read and how to understand your content.
The format is intentionally minimal. A heading with your site name, a blockquote with a one-line description, an optional paragraph, and sections listing your key pages with links and short descriptions. That's the whole spec.
